This is one of my all-time favorite treats, and I’ll let you in on a secret: the gluten-free version is actually better than the wheat version. Most people would never even know they are gluten-free!
They are the perfect reliable treat for birthdays and holidays. Since they travel so well and stay "mess-free" once set, they’ve even replaced birthday cake in our house.
Gluten-Free Pretzel Rods (Snyder's is the gold standard)
Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (1 bag)
Gluten-Free Sprinkles (Check labels carefully!)

Double Boiler (or heatproof bowl over a pot)
Cooling Rack & Parchment Paper
Tall Measuring Jug (for the sprinkle catch)
As many of you know, finding Snyder’s Gluten-Free Pretzel Rods in Singapore can be a challenge. They aren't typically sold in local shops, so I always make sure to clear some space in my suitcase to bring a few bags back when I’m traveling. Gluten-free pretzel twists will work but will take more dexterity to make.
Set up your double boiler. The water in the bottom pot should just reach the base of your insert bowl. Bring the water to a boil, then lower it to a gentle simmer.
Add your chocolate chips to the bowl and stir slowly.

Pro-Tip: Do not let even a single drop of water get into your chocolate. Moisture causes the sugar to "seize," turning your smooth chocolate into a thick, grainy mess.
Dipping pretzel rods directly into a bowl is awkward and messy. Instead, follow these steps for a professional finish:
Hold the pretzel over the bowl by the bottom (leave about an inch of handle).
Spoon the chocolate over the pretzel using your silicone scraper, rotating as you go.
The Gentle Tap: Lightly tap the pretzel against the edge of the bowl to even out the coating. Scrape the excess off the bottom so the chocolate doesn't "pool" on your tray.

Rest pretzels on rack before decorating
This is the part where most kitchens get covered in sprinkles or non-pareils, but I have a trick for you.
Wait a few minutes: Let the chocolate set slightly so the weight of the sprinkles doesn't make the chocolate slide off.
Decorate: Hold the pretzel upright inside a tall measuring jug. Pour your sprinkles over the chocolate.
Return to Shaker & Repeat: The jug catches all the extra sprinkles. You can then easily pour them through the spout back into your original container and keep decorating. No waste, no mess.

Lay the pretzels flat on parchment paper. In our warm and humid Singapore climate, I highly recommend placing the trays in the refrigerator until the chocolate is firm.
Once they are fully set, store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
No baking required.
Easy to scale up for big parties.
Perfect for little hands (no plate or fork needed!).
Endlessly customizable: Use orange and black for Halloween, or "Mermaid" colors for a themed birthday.
