Gluten-Free Singapore has grown a lot since the support group began in 2012. Today our community includes more than 6,000 members, along with travelers, newly diagnosed families, and long-time residents looking for reliable gluten-free information.
What many people don’t realize is that everything we do is run entirely by volunteers. The Facebook group, website, newsletters, meetups, and events all happen because members of the community give a little bit of their time to help others.
As the group has grown and some of our original helpers have moved away, we are looking for a few more people who would like to get involved.
You can see the volunteer opportunities and tell us how you might like to help by filling out our short form.
Most roles take about five hours per month or less and can be shared among several people.
Some examples include:
Helping host or organize our local meetups
Gathering links and ideas for the newsletter
Writing blog posts or sharing recipes
Creating posts for social media
Helping plan an occasional community event
Many roles require being in Singapore, but some can also be done remotely. Scroll down for more details.
Volunteering is a great way to meet other gluten-free families, support newly diagnosed members, and help improve gluten-free awareness in Singapore.
If you’ve ever found helpful information in this group, this is a chance to help keep it going.
If you’re interested, please take a minute to tell us how you might like to help
Even if you can only contribute a small amount of time, it can make a huge difference for someone newly diagnosed, visiting Singapore, or raising a gluten-free child.
Thank you for being part of this community.
Karen & The Gluten-Free Singapore Support Group
We’re currently looking for volunteers in a few key areas.
Meetup Coordinators
This is our highest priority. We are building a small team of about 8–10 people who can help plan and host our monthly meetups. These are informal gatherings like coffee mornings, donut meetups, and occasional talks. The goal is to have one weekday and one weekend meetup most months. Volunteers would rotate so that no one has to attend every event.
Newsletter Helpers
Help gather useful gluten-free information and links for our newsletters. Most of the work involves finding interesting updates and writing short blurbs. Our goal is to publish newsletters twice per month, eventually moving to weekly updates.
Content Contributors
Do you enjoy writing, researching, or sharing helpful information? We are always looking for blog posts, recipes, guides, and practical gluten-free tips. Having information on the website makes it easier for people to find again later, instead of getting lost in social media.
Social Media Coordinators
Help share gluten-free information across our platforms including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and the website. Most posts can be scheduled in advance, so this role is flexible and easy to fit around travel schedules.
Event Coordinators
Help plan one or two larger community events each year.
Most of these roles require about five hours per month, and several can be done remotely. For meetup roles, volunteers need to be based in Singapore.
Because many expats travel frequently or stay only a few years, we are designing roles so they can be shared among multiple people. Many hands make light work.

In addition to the day-to-day work of running the group, we also have some bigger ideas we would love to explore with the help of volunteers.
These include developing a Celiac and Gluten Intolerance Association for Singapore, expanding the Gluten-Free Singapore Travel Guide, and creating gluten-free awareness training for restaurants and food service professionals.
If any of these areas interest you, we would love to hear from you.
