Magpie: A Gluten-Free Dining Dream in Tiong Bahru

September 10, 20251 min read

If you’ve ever wished for a restaurant where the regular menu is almost entirely gluten-free, you’ll want to check out Magpie in Tiong Bahru. This new bistro is quickly becoming a favorite in the gluten-free community and for good reason.

Magpie: gluten-free bread

Almost Everything Is Gluten-Free (Really)

Magpie’s menu is about 95% gluten-free, with only three items containing gluten (tandoori bread, gnocchi, and a tart). Even better, the team is highly aware of cross-contamination risks. The chef and staff are trained, the fryer is dedicated gluten-free, and gluten-containing dishes are prepped in a separate area.

The reason? The chef's wife has celiac disease. He built the menu so she - and now you - can eat safely.

Magpie: Padron Peppers & Hummus

What Makes Magpie Special

  • Nearly every dish is gluten-free

  • Dedicated gluten-free fryer

  • Chef-designed with celiac safety in mind

  • Fresh gluten-free bread available (ask for it with your hummus!)

  • Sticky date pudding is gluten-free (yes, dessert too!)

  • No awkward substitutions, just great food that happens to be gluten-free

  • The menu changes frequently, be sure to return for new dishes

Even if you're not gluten-free, you'll enjoy every bite. It’s the kind of place you can bring friends without needing to explain your dietary needs because it’s already taken care of.
